The House Of Night - Not really a review but what I think of it....

Hello All,

I hope you are all very well this fine Sunday.

So yesterday I finished Redeemed the last book in the House Of Night.

I have been reading these books since about 2010 is started reading them a little late as the first book came out in 2007.

The series is made up of 12 books and 4 novellas.

The books are:

Marked
Betrayed
Chosen
Untamed
Hunted
Tempted
Burned
Awakened
Destined
Hidden
Revealed
Redeemed

The novellas are:

Dragon's Oath
Lenobia's Vow
Nerefet's Curse
Kalona's Fall

This series is essentially about a vampire finishing school The House Of Night. The vampires in these books are different to traditional vampires, they are marked as vampires as teenagers by the Goddess Nyx and not every fledgling vampire makes the Change.

The story follows a young fledgling called Zoey Redbird. She is gifted by the Goddess and tasked to save the world for vampire and human a like. While dealing with her new powers she also has to deal with normal teenage woes.

The books are cleverly written by P.C Cast and her Daughter Kristen. The stories evolve through the series much like the characters.  The way the character a written is beautiful you really feel for these fledgling and vampires. The novellas bring completed back stories in the picture bring understanding to these characters making you really feel for them.
My favourite thing about these books are the pop culture references portraying the characters as normal teenagers in a paranormal life. I love the way the Cast's combine the two in perfect harmony. Perfect example is researching spells using an iPad and a battle between darkness and light caught on a camera phone and instantly uploaded to YouTube.

You find your self relating to the characters, we all know an Aphrodite, the mean sarcastic one you grow to love because you know she speaks the truth. We all know an Erik the hot guy all the girls want. You place your best friends face on Stevie Rae as they are just like her.

I can honestly say I love these books they are expertly written, engaging I couldn't ever put them down. I am going to miss Zoey and the nerd herd but in my mind they live long happy lives until they are eventually reunited with Nyx in the Otherworld.

Thank you P.C and Kristen Cast for giving me 4 years of beautiful stories that have made me laugh and cry.

If you haven't read these book I would highly recommended them, if you have read the let me know what you thought.

Thanks for reading.

Destination Star Trek

So last weekend Mike and I went to the fantastic Destination Star Trek.
It was held at the London Excel it was a 3 day event which held the cream of the crop of the Star Trek world being a Trekkie myself I had to go.

The day started with a failed Guiness world record attempt. In 2012 the first Destination Star Trek beat the world record of most people dress in Star Trek uniforms. I was not part of this unfortunately but I tried this time with an original series red dress which I love. We didn't beat it but I got a selfie a borg so it turned out great for me.

After this we entered the exhibition hall. This year I found the stalls a bit sparse there wasn't as many in 2012 yes it gave you more room to move but there wasn't has much selection. We walked around some of the stalls and decided to get our autograph tokens.

We chose Jeri Ryan (my girl crush), Karl Urban (my guy crush), Robert Picardo and Tim Russ. As Robert Picardo was close we went straight to him. He was polite and chatted to is for a while about this and that. Next we could see that the queue for Jeri Ryan was huge we thought we would go there next . She was lovely despite the queue she still chatted with us for as long as she could. Next we went to see Tim Russ who was a bit rude to be honest he just tried to get rid of us quickly. So lastly we went to see Karl Urban who is the nicest man, he told me I looked phenomenal in my dress so I obviously swooned Mike had a nice chat and he was pretty happy we watched Almost Human (got a hand shake for that).

We wondered around the stalls some more. I got my self a pop! Spock which I added to my collection. We got a few Star Wars T shirts (Controversial I know but what can I say I love them both) and the first 6 movies on bluray.

We had a little bit of money left over so we thought we would get one more autograph so we decided on Ethan Philips he was really nice played a cruel joke by saying his assistant was his daughter which I fell for.

There was a replica of the NTG set which was pretty cool.

Photos to follow sum up my day.... Some of them are terrible because we weren't allowed to take photos of the stars.

Thanks for reading,
